Sirius, Greek for “glowing” or “scorcher”, used to rise on the summer solstice with the sun. Now, due to precession of the equinoxes, Sirius’ heliacal rising doesn’t happen until early July and lasts around 40 days, ending approximately August 11th.

Sirius embodies the energy of luck, pride, ambition, occult interests, wealth, good fortune, honor, and fame. However, if heat and humidity are high, it can inflame danger and violence.
