On June 6, 1933, Richard Hollingshead Jr opened the first drive-in theater in Camden, New Jersey. By the late 1950s and early 1960s, some 4,000 drive-ins had spread across the United States. Today there are only about 356 American drive-in theaters.

This weekend, if you have the time and inclination, why not visit your local (or nearest) drive-in and enjoy a movie under the stars “ozoner” style.
