day_of_olvir_collage.jpg

Olvir was a Norwegian who defied the christian King Olaf Tryggvason by organizing a festival in celebration of the Gods. He was assassinated by Olaf, and his accomplices were killed, tortured or exiled. He is remembered as an Asatru martyr for maintaining and contributing to preserving the old traditions for posterity and honored by welcoming the Goddess of Spring on Ostara.
