The origin of Pins and Needles Day was to commemorate the opening of the pro-Labor play Pins and Needles on Broadway on November 27, 1937.  It was produced by the International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union with Union members comprising the cast and ran for 1108 performances.

Today, it’s considered a day of anticipation.
